One of my favorite things about being a dad is talking with our son and being half of his favorite audience, mom and dad. The made up jokes, random facts, latest updates on the video game of the month, and random statements are a lovely mess of kid logic. I see so much of myself in the kid and it brings me such joy to be a part of his world. I don’t remember the majority of the nonsense that I must have spewed out to my dad when I was his age, but I do have distinct memories of my father’s reactions and silliness when we would really get things rolling with jokes and nonsensical banter. “It’s so hot out there I had my tongue hanging out of my back pocket.”

This portrait is an ode to youth. A documentation of our relationship. A depiction of the bond between father and son.
